Lucas realises that he relationship with Brooke is really over. His attempts to make things up to Brooke are rebuffed and his pleas for friendship are ignored so Lucas finally accepts defeat and tells Brooke that he has had enough.
Rachel's flirting with Nathan causes concern amongst his friends. Haley quickly catches on to Rachel's intentions and warns her to stop playing games. Rachel continues to pursue Nathan though and his distracted air only increases the problem. After he disappears to the bridge where the crash took place, Haley attempts to query his actions. Nathan admits that he is struggling to deal with the crash and how he felt that Keith was the one who saved him. Haley offers him her support telling him that his problems are hers.
Peyton finds a good friend in her brother who is very similar to her in many ways. They're both arty and like the same things. Whilst Derek offers to take things slowly, explaining he understands that Peyton finds it hard to let strangers into her life, Peyton warms to him and asks him to stay in Tree Hill for a while. Derek fits in well with Peyton and her Tree Hill peers, however things grow darker as scenes of him alone at home also show his walls plastered with pictures of Peyton.
Skills finds himself on the bench in his first game for the Ravens. His frustration at this boils over at half time. Hearing his rant, Whitey offers skills a chance on the court. Skills manages to help turn the game around quickly and celebrates helping win the game with everyone at the game after party at Rachel's house.
Mouth finds himself driking after being rejected by Rachel a second time. Fuelled by alcohol he starts complaining about how he is always overlooked when it comes to romance, snapping at Lucas and remembering how Felix and Cooper had snatch away girls he liked. Whilst attempting to sleep off the drink on a bench near the pool in Rachel's garden he overhears Rachel and Brooke arguing and Rachel flinging the truth that Brooke is pregnant as she attempts to defend her actions with Nathan.
