Debs friends and family hold an intervention in an attempt to get Deb to admit she has a problem and get the help she needs in rehab. Despite the showing of support Deb laughs them off though is thrown when Nathan tells her that they have cleaned the house of pills. Deb continues on her downward spiral as she tracks down Nathan at school. Walking into the middle of a class test she confronts her son and demands that he give her the pills her removed from the house. Nathan gets her to choose between him or the pills and she humiliates him by snatching the pills he had put out in front of him and leaving the room.
The news of Brooke's pregnancy begins to spread despite her attempts to keep it quiet. Brooke is targeted by a group of students who preach sexual abstinence before marriage. They prove persistence despite Brooke's attempts to get them to leave her alone. Brooke begins to realise there is more to the group leaders drive to get Brooke to join them and realises that the leader had been in a similar situation as Brooke is now. The leader admits that she also fell pregnant though she had an abortion, a event which she has regretted ever since. It soon becomes clear that the news of Brooke's pregnancy is doomed to become public knowledge. Seeking out Haley, Brooke tells her friend that she cannot pretend to be the one who is pregnant any longer.
Derek and Peyton spend more time together. Lucas begins to pick up strange vibes from Derek despite his friendly nature toward Peyton. Derek swings into action as Peyton confides in him that she is going to tell Lucas that she wants a relationship now that he and Brooke are really finished. Having overheard Mouth telling Brooke that he is aware of her pregnancy, Derek passes this information on to Peyton just as she is about to tell Lucas about her feelings. Derek adds a lie to this, telling Peyton that he also heard Lucas telling Brooke that he would be willing to cut Peyton out of his life if Brooke asked him. This has the desired effect as Peyton instead tells Lucas about Brooke. Derek's victory in steering Peyton isn't complete though as Peyton challenges Lucas about his willingness to give up on their friendship for Brooke. Lucas tells Peyton that this is correct and warns that there's something not right about Derek. Peyton shrugs this off, however the depth of Derek's problems are revealed with him returning home to a prostitute who he has dress up as Peyton.
Dan finds himself in a session with the counsellor who oversaw the attempted intervention. Whilst he remains fairly tight lipped he tells the counsellor that he is racked with guilt over the death of his brother which he feels responsible as he let Keith run into Tree Hill high. The councillor suggests that his guilt is to do with unresolved feelings he harbours for Karen.
Rachel continues to pursue Nathan despite him stating that he isn't interested. She leaves photos from a Maxim shoot she has done in his school locked. She manages to get through to him after she admits that she too saw Keith in the water whilst the were drowning in the limousine. This admission sees them both standing closely together at the bridge were the accident happened.
