The OC Finishes

After four years, and with the recent news that the Fox network were canceling the show, the OC comes to a close this week.
The End's Not Near, It's Here (season 4 episode 16) will air in the United States on Thursday 22nd February.
The
OC is a teen drama base in California which many saw as taking over from the successful Dawson's Creek. It followed the lives of the residents of affluent county of Newport. A spanner is thrown into the works as Ryan Atwood is brought into the Cohen family. From the outset he struggles against the spoilt teens that make up most of Newport however he quickly becomes friends with Seth, Summer and Marissa.
The cancellation came as The OC joined many shows struggling to attract viewers. Shake ups introduced in season 3 of the show, such as the death of Marissa Cooper, did little to help.

The OC finale tied together the various storylines running through season four and the show as a whole. The first scenes are six months on from the earthquake which hit Newport country and destroyed the Cohen's house.
The finale sees two weddings take place. The first is Julie's marriage to the Bullet though the wedding falls apart as Frank finds Julie to tell her that he loves her and wants to be a part of her life.
The second is Summer's marriage to Seth. The pair go their separate ways in the middle of the episode after realising that they have become to comfortable around each other. Summer's promise that Seth is her destiny holds true as the episode comes to a close and sees their future wedding.
The Cohen's move to Berkeley and their old house after their Newport home is written off due to the earthquake destruction. They have a small battle on their hands to move
back home as the house is owned by another couple. The two guys get swept up in the moment as Kristin gives birth, Julie and Bullet and their wedding knocks on the door and Ryan is stumbled upon whilst in a bedroom with Taylor.
The gay couple decide that they can't fight fate and agree to sell the house to the Cohen's.
Aside from Summer's marriage to Seth the glimpse of the future shows the paths of the various other OC characters. Julie completes an undergraduate degree after realising she regrets never challenging herself in life. Sandy begins teaching. Ryan becomes a construction foreman after University. The episode closes with him striking up a conversation with a lost kid asking him if he needs any help much as Sandy did, changing Ryan's life overnight, years ago.
